"More like, you are our cute puppets."
―After being asked about whether the Absolute Solver is a program.
Eldritch J was a manifestation of the Absolute Solver that manifested following the destruction of Serial Designation J, after she was incinerated by Uzi's railgun to the point where her regeneration system couldn't restore her without the Solver's assistance.
Appearance[]
Eldritch J resembles Cyn's actual form, a monstrous centipede-like being with multiple mantis-like appendages and a row of spikes on the back. Its head is identical to J's, albeit with a melted visor, sharp serrated teeth lining the upper jaw, and the absence of a lower jaw. It also sports multiple "cameras" with a single yellow eye. These cameras can also project holograms of drones it has studied and killed.
One of Eldritch J's appendages resembles a human hand. Whether this is genuine human flesh or a lookalike is unknown.
Personality[]
Initially, Eldritch J is shown to be a simple-minded entity whose goal is to rebuild J by obtaining material from existing sources like Worker Drones. It was smart enough to utilize holograms to lure in unsuspecting Worker Drones, even using a hologram of Serial Designation N to disarm Uzi.
It also knows how to use a person's emotions against them by projecting a holographic image of their loved ones. For example, a hologram of her deceased mother was shown to Uzi to stun her. Eldritch J also pretended to kill her father by using a hologram of him. This traumatized Uzi and caused her to let her guard down. Still, it has shown a willingness to let prey escape in favor of targeting more dangerous threats to its mission to ensure they can't prevent it from completing its directive. For example, it allowed Thad to escape so that it could kill N and Uzi.
Due to being a creation of the Absolute Solver, Eldritch J is likely another incarnation of it, as it shares the same voice and mannerisms while also being very discreet and enigmatic in its goals.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Heartbeat[]
When J's corpse mysteriously disappears, Frank goes to investigate and stumbles upon J's chest pried open, revealing her organic insides and heart. Her corpse suddenly transforms into an Eldritch, which later kills Frank. During the transformation, numerous Absolute Solver glyphs imprint onto nearby walls and containers. It would then kill more Worker Drones to assimilate parts for J's reconstruction.
When Tim falls for a trick set by Eldritch J (involving a hologram of Frank), he is stabbed in the back by one of its claws and dragged into the ceiling, killed off-screen. His remains splat onto the ground, and a Solver camera projects a hologram of Tim, praising itself in the process. An unnamed detective goes to investigate Tim's death with her team, only to realize that the whole scene and her teammates are holograms. She is then killed off-screen.
One of Eldritch J's cameras attempts to enter the classroom (where the parent-teacher conference is held) to kill everyone inside but struggles to open the door. So, it projects a hologram of Lizzy to get someone to open the door. Lizzy and Doll notice the hologram outside; the former almost lets the Eldritch in but the latter deforms the door, preventing it from being opened. As Lizzy angrily sits back down, the holographic Lizzy frustratedly glares at Doll before disappearing.
As Uzi, Thad, and N investigate the disappearances across Outpost 3, a human hand attached to a long appendage suddenly grabs Thad's leg. In response, N fires a missile into the ceiling, revealing the silhouette of a gigantic centipede. The hand drags Thad away and N severs the appendage with a ninja star, though it is ineffective in saving Thad as a claw emerges and grabs him away. Uzi and N chase the creature into the Cryosleep chamber where they stumble upon a hologram of Thad screaming before it briefly disappears. The hologram reappears and attempts to deceive the two, but they see through Eldritch J's tricks and throw a ninja star into its appendages, saving Thad and allowing him to escape.
Upon being questioned by Uzi about its voice, Eldritch J explains that "J's not here" and "[it's] trying to repair that host as per [its] directive." It then displays a hologram of Nori cradling a baby Uzi, both with the Absolute Solver symbol on their visors; this sight sent Uzi into shock. Eldritch J suggests to "assimilate" Uzi, which she rejects. Eldritch J remarks that her choice was fair but poor and reveals to Uzi that it has captured Khan. She attempts to stop it, but, to her dismay, it rips Khan into two and consumes his remains.
As Eldritch J charges toward Uzi, N fires a missile at it, halting it in place and allowing Uzi to escape. Uzi gives N her railgun as she is too scared to open fire at Eldritch J, but N is revealed to be a hologram created by the Eldritch. It snatches the railgun and pierces it, severely damaging it. At the same time, Uzi is thrown into the wall, and her head is grabbed by its claws. Eldritch J prepares to consume Uzi, but N ambushes it with chainsaws, severing its claws and cameras, freeing Uzi from its grasp.
The Eldritch attempts to chase them down again but is distracted by the damaged railgun, now glowing red and emitting a loud noise. The gun explodes, incinerating Eldritch J's body and destroying the Cryosleep chamber. Luckily, N uses his wings to shield himself and Uzi from the blast. It is then revealed that the Khan that Eldritch J bisected was a hologram the whole time. As its final camera collapses into a black hole, J's heart emerges from the wreckage and attempts to escape (rather loudly), but it is repeatedly stabbed by N with his Nanite Acid syringe. It too collapses into a black hole, drifting away (and making its escape).
Absolute End[]
In the end credits of "Absolute End", a silhouette of Eldritch J appears in the entrance of the Cryosleep Chamber, only revealed by a brief red flicker in the background.
