The Worker Defense Force, often abbreviated to WDF, is an organization that is responsible for handling the protection of the Worker Drones inhabiting Outpost 3. They appear to be led by Khan Doorman.

Background[]

Not much is known about the Worker Defense Force, though the various appearances and their recruitment posters provide some background.

Khan Doorman, who appeared to be either the founder or a prominent leader within the WDF, is featured on many of the organization's posters. He is also the inventor of the blast doors that, until the events of the pilot episode, protected the colony from the Disassembly Drones. The organization's members often spend their time near the doors, ostensibly to maintain and guard them but often playing games like cards to pass the time.

On occasion, they have also handled matters like internal investigations, evidenced in Heartbeat. Furthermore, they appear to handle missing person cases, judging by the posters in The Promening. Contrary to the organization's name, however, their members' preferred method of defense was constructing doors. As a result, when confronted with a problem that permeated their prized doors, they often froze and were powerless to defeat or contain the threat.

The WDF seem to be quite a polarizing subject for those living in Outpost 3, with the majority of the public seeing them as heroes, whereas a vocal minority see them as cowards who are too afraid to attack the Disassembly Drones directly.

History[]

Pilot[]

The WDF first appears in this episode. Uzi's father, Khan, is introduced as a prominent member of the WDF, and the organization's role as a passive defense force is also mentioned.

Their flaws are also exposed later, however, when two Disassembly Drones make their way past the doors and into the colony itself. Much to a student's disbelief, the on-site members of the WDF shied away from the attackers and tried to either build a door (a futile endeavor) or flee.

Heartbeat[]

After the disappearances of Frank and Tim, the WDF launched an investigation into the matter. They found the evidence of a murder in a hallway, but after an investigation team was dispatched, they were eliminated one by one, and the last one, an unnamed detective drone, only saw a glimpse of the real culprit before she was killed by it, sealing her fate.

The team's work was posthumously completed by Khan's daughter, Uzi, with the aid of N and Thad.

Cabin Fever[]

The only appearance of the WDF in this episode is in some old photographs of Khan's. Which show Khan, Doll's Father, their respective wives Nori and Yeva, and Sarah. These photographs were taken in Camp 98.7. This shows that the WDF has been active for some time.

Hierarchy[]

NOTE: All of this is based on speculation, along with evidence scattered across official media (physical appearances, dialogue, emblems, etc.)
